Tevin Cambell - Can We Talk
Your man Sweetboy is back, pairing up lonely sweetmans, sweetshops & slowjams. This time I'm up in West London with sore eyes. Everytime I spot them neon cards in the window it fucks with my senses. A big wall of booze discount colour beaming out into the street, bright enough to catch the eye of even the most skagged out tramp. On walking in they live up to the promise with shelve upon shelve of the cheapest booze youre gonna find. But it's also the saddest little sweetshop/off licence i've ever seen. This spot is always quiet, you might find an elderly gentlemen counting his coins outside or browsing the wall of colour but thats about it.
It's another prime example of a sweetshop having his shop front right but paying no attention to the inside. I ,Sweetboy charge this sweetman with false advertisment. He gives the impression he's a colourful fun guy, with bright interesting stock but its all brown bottles inside and dusty cans.
He ain't even got enough refrigeration to keep his wine and beer cool. And as for the sweets, mans game is week. he looks after the pissheads with Doritos and Wheat Crunchies but what about the confectionary? Where the sweets at?
This guy need some help so I'm teaming him with a big slowjam, maybe Tevin can talk to this dude and force him into making some sweetshop improvements.

Rachel Barrett in my dreams
what i would wear on our first date
A slowjam dedicated to my queen Rachel
I'm in love, last night in my sleep Rachel Barrett came to me in my dreams dressed in gold with a handful of Ferrero Roches.Rachel Barrett is some girl from New York who goes round taking snaps of newsstands, a little like your London boy Sweetboy. Although i would like to point out that i get up a little closer and am more into the man behind the counter than the counter itself.
Anyways, she takes a good picture and her subject matter is a visual treat. Since i found her, mans can't stop thinking about her, Sweetboy has officially got his first crush. Yo i've even been thinking about what I'm gonna rock on our first date. Man's so into her, I ain't even got a review for you this time. Just a (U.S) sweetshop & a slowjam.
check the link for more from my queen;

Soul For Real - Candy Rain
Two things strike me every time I walk into a sweetshop
1. They all look amazing, Like little treasure troves of
magical colours and products stacked tightly against each other
ready for me to browse.
2. Them shopkeepers seem lonely. Each one just sat in his
shop staring at the door waiting like my dog does each time
i go into a shop
.
I imagine while they are sat there they think about all sorts but
mostly lost loves or customer crushes. Thinking about that woman
who bought some Frazzles and a packet of Extra and never came
back. so they just sit and wait, musing about what might have been
staring at the door in hope she may come back.
.
So in dedication to all those ol' romantic shopkeepers out their
who I have an inkling listen to slow jams anyway heres Soul For
Real with the appropriately named Candy Rain.
.
Anyways, on with the review.
My man had no fags, dudes tobacco counter was like a russian
supermarket. Packets of JP special and Rothmans is all he got. No
B&H NO King-skins. I kid u not. Drinks were better with a long fridge
stretching the length of the store. Sweets wise he had it going on.
From Haribos to a fine selection of after dinner chocolates.
Although I'm confused about the bags hanging from the ceiling,
i don't really think they fit in with the other product ranges. He
ain't Clintons, why's he trying to sell gift bags?

Paynes Toffee Poppets
Midnight Star – Slow Jam
Yo, this is the spot! When your boy sweetboy is
heading back to his south LDN manor after a few too
many Smirnoff Ice’s at Yate’s in Leicester Square
you know he has to stop by this newsstand and pick
up his favourite home time sweet.
.
Man don’t even have to ask anymore. They see me
step through the ticket barriers and as I pull up to them
they reach for the 10 B&H and Poppets (always toffee)
straight away. Now that’s some sweetshop service.
.
Yo, look how organised their shit is. None of that messy
shop shelfery going on here, pure snack filled straight
lines. Now they don’t have much space to get it wrong
so these guys get big points for being on point.
.
A professional sweetshop deserves a Pro slowjam. So
I’m teaming them with Midnight Star’s Slowjam. Firstly
coz know one did a Pro stageshow like thse guys and
secondly they really sum up Sweetshops & Slowjams
with the lyrics and especially the chorus line “play
another slowjam, this time make it sweet.”

Who's laughing now? According to BBC News Pound shops
are the credit crunch winners. With M&S issuing a profit
warning and John Lewis reporting losses 8 out of 9 weeks
and with growing concerns over price for fuel, food and
mortgages shoppers are after some knockdown pricing.
Although Pound Shops are doing alright now there is always
the chance of being undercut. More and more 99p stores are
popping up all over our high-streets and them city boys are
now forecasting that a 90-99p pricing war maybe on the cards
for Pound Shops all over the country.

Boyz 2 Men _ End Of The Road
A big sweetshop deserves a big slowjam and it
don't get much bigger than Boyz 2 Men. My man Raja
keeps me content with easy conversation when i want it
and minimal chat when i don't. A true sign of a great
shopkeeper.
.
In terms of product, Raja's got it all. From a rotating shelf
that sells anything from needles and thread to nail clippers
to a wide selection of fruit, milk and fizzy based drinks. Look
at him, he can barely fit into his shop with all the product
range. He scores big on sweets with extra props going out
to his eye on the U.S market with Hersheys and Reeces.
.
Final score is just short of full marks, he gets marked down for
his counter reading material. You naughty boy Raja, no body
likes buying their loo roll from someone reading about kinky
secrets

H-Town Knockin the Boots
Sweetboys Sweetshops & Slowjams Part 1
.
These two aint just hanging about, they own the joint.
You heard of shotta's, well these boys are shoppa's.
They shop more News, Wines and Videos
than a top shotta shotting crack in camden.
They even got a club for their videos. That's big!
but how does Universal Wines and Video Club rate?
Well, the sweets weren't up to scratch. Cadbury's main
playa's were in effect but not much else. Sweetboy had to
settle for a fudge without the Curly Wurly that should go
with it. what's up with that?
These two shop proprieters score big though on the booze.
Bare Brandy. It was like looking at multiple mini Moesha's
lined up for me to choose. man was in heaven.
The shop made me think of another set of brothers.
Dino and Shazam from H-Town, So i'm takin you back to 93
when penny sweet's cost a penny and banana man ice lolly's
were the summer sweet of choice.
