I Stand Corrected

Yesterday I came across a photographer after blogtanians own heart. This shot was taken Major Deegan,  a New York based snapper who captures NY street life in all its glory, many shots including the citys proud pooches. Big ups.

See the world through his eyes here...

husky dog Dogs haven't always sat around doing nothing you know. Back in the day Husky's like this were working for a living, infact they were kind of like the pre historic Ice Road Truckers.  They saved peoples lives. Back in 1925 a team of 20 Siberian Husky's saved the town of Nome, Alaska, from an outbreak of Diptheria when the sled team transported a vaccination to prevent an epidemic 674 miles across the icy landscape.

If God and the Devil got bored of pulling the strings in Heaven and Hell respectively and wanted to unite and live an incognito life here on earth they would probably end up looking like these two.

the odd couple

Introducing one of the most unlikely pairs since pop idol

losers Liberty X teamed up with Rev Run. Found waiting

for their buddy outside a NY subway these 2 were all over

each other. The little Toy Poodle had little pink bows tied

into his knotty hair, presumably by her semi hobo master.

Blogtanian thinks maybe the master should spend more time

in the salon. There's nothing worse than a pooch out styling

the owner. Although pink bows maybe out of the equation

Blogtanain suggests he sews those shipwrecked cut offs up.

This right here ticks all the boxes in the world of Blogtanian.

The hero beagle Snoopy features profiling in his convertable

with a tuff and true slogan that can't be beat. This wouldn't

be a Blogtanian post withouta little dog related trivia, so here

goes with Snoopy related info.

.

Snoopy loves root beer and pizza, hates coconut candy, gets

claustrophobia in tall weeds, and is deathly afraid of icicles

dangling over his doghouse. One of his hobbies is reading

Leo Tolstoy's epic novel War and Peace at the rate of "a word

a day". Snoopy also has the uncanny ability to play fetch with

soap bubbles, and can hear someone eating marshmallows or

cookies at a distance, or even peeling a banana.

.

Wikipedia is truly amazing!

I spotted Stanley* outside of RAD (Royal Deaf Association) on

the Old Oak Road. He works as a Hearing Dog for his deaf owner

and was on patrol outside St Saviors, which was the first deaf

church to exist in Britain. Over 70% of hearing dogs come from

Rescue centres, and are used to help alert deaf owners to sounds

we take for granted. 2008 has been officially designated the Year

of the Assistance Dog and Stanley is very proud of this fact.

Not strictly a dog more of a hyena but a 'domesticated pet hyena'

so Blogtanian allowed it and let this guy in the blog. The picture

was taken by Pieter Hugo, a South African photogrpaher who's

Hyena Men series features in Tate Moderns current exhibit 'Street

& Studio: An urban history of photography'

Blogtanian was dissapointed to see very few dogs repped is this

exhibition. Hugo, however, gets big props for his snaps, many

of which feature my dog brothers while also saying a lot about

African society.
